circa 1850, with browned damascus 31in. barrels, the broad slightly concave top-rib signed in gold inlaid gothic script 'MAZZA NAPOLI' within a flourish of scrolls, scroll engraved rib-end and long top-tang, small platinum vented plugs, unusually narrow tapering back-action locks with borderline and scroll engraving and inlet with large shield-shaped gold poincons embossed 'MAZZA NAPOLI', acanthus scroll engraved dolphin-headed hammers, figured walnut straight hand chequered walnut high-combed half-stock, long spurred iron heel-plate, the lower tang fitted with an engraved full-length grip-safety (at fault), narrow chequered fore-end with clipped corner white-metal rectangular escutcheons for the take-down key and brass mounted mahogany ramrod
